Tidebrook

Mousehall, East Sussex. Images and fact sheets, free for editorial use.

We import four still wines from Mousehall in East Sussex, where Gary and Kathy Jordan rebuilt a run-down estate. The wines are called Tidebrook, after the stream running through the property.

Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023 took Platinum and 97 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026, the first English still Chardonnay ever to do so. The source is linked below the fact box.

Below are bottle shots individually and together, with price, product number and a quotable note per wine, plus fact sheets for the producer and each wine. If you need something else, or a sample, just ask.

Quote, free to use

“English sparkling is established, the still wines are the next chapter. Tidebrook shows where it can go: a cool climate and winemakers who have done this before.”

  • Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023

    Staddle Stone Chardonnay 2023

Whole clusters are gently pressed, the juice settles naturally, and the wine is fermented and aged for 10 months in 228-litre French oak barrels. A portion of tank-fermented wine is blended in. Golden colour with green tints. Lime, lemon, green apples, white flowers and a trace of butter and vanilla from the barrels on the nose. Fresh acidity, creamy mouthfeel and a mineral finish.

  • Medieval Monk Pinot Gris 2023

    Medieval Monk Pinot Gris 2023

Pinot Gris, “the grey” in French. The name “Medieval Monk” refers to the Cistercian monks who carried the grape across Europe during the Middle Ages. The grape is a pink-grey mutation of Pinot Noir with origins in Burgundy, where the synonym Pinot Beurot points to the colour of the monk's habit (bure). In Sussex it takes to the English climate and gives citrus, apple, freshly picked pear and white peach. A long time on the lees in tank builds a creamy texture, balanced by acidity and fruit.

  • The Tipping Point Pinot Noir 2024

The Tipping Point Pinot Noir 2024

English Pinot Noir is still a fairly new chapter. Tidebrook takes its cues from Burgundy, both in the vinification and the barrel choice: 10 months in 228-litre French oak barrels, the Burgundy format. Light ruby red, typical of cool-climate Pinot Noir. Red berries, cherry, redcurrant and a trace of spice and oak on the nose. Lighter in style, with soft tannins and fresh acidity. Try it lightly chilled.

  • Six Petals Rosé 2023

    Six Petals Rosé 2023

Six Petals is a still rosé from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, two of the three Champagne grapes. Extended lees contact in tank gives more texture than you tend to expect from a rosé. Pale pink. Wild strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb and a trace of herbs on the nose. Light on the palate, with fresh acidity and a fruit-driven finish. As an aperitif or with light summer food.

Each wine in a still life, with one element from its own origin: chalk and oyster shell for the Chardonnay, pear for the Pinot Gris, an oak stave and redcurrants for the Pinot Noir, wild strawberries and rhubarb for the rosé. Landscape format, JPEG.
