Weingut Bauer · Mosel, Germany
Kabinett from the Brauneberger Juffer. Citrus and ripe apple, a herbal streak and salty minerality. Light, dry Riesling at 11.5%.
The Juffer is a pure south-facing slope above Brauneberg, with gradients of up to 80%. Bauer picks this Kabinett from their parcels there, and the blue-grey weathered clay slate sets the tone: stony soils, a clearly mineral expression.
Citrus and ripe apple on the nose, herbs and a salty minerality on the palate. Residual sugar of 6.3 g/l against 7.0 g/l of acidity keeps the wine dry and light. Serve it well chilled as an aperitif, or with fish, shellfish and sushi.
Family-run estate with more than 300 years of wine-making in Mülheim, in the Middle Mosel.
